Mabel's Note to Mary Ann

Here's a message that I received from Mabel. I told her I wanted to share some of it with you but since I thought it was such a thoughtful note, I didn't want to edit it. Thanks, Mabel. We're glad you had a wonderful time at the zoo!

P.S. If anyone's interested in going to the zoo during the summertime, just let me know...

hi mary -

we had a really nice, lazy sunday afternoon at the zoo. the weather
turned out to be perfect. matt & jon were disappointed that the other kids couldn't come but they ended up having a lot of fun. as usual, we only made it to portions of the zoo cuz it's quite large and can't get to all
the exhibits in a day. the highlights for us were the creepy crawly bugs at the insect zoo (matt was especially fascinated by the dung beetles and a very, very large millipede (or was it a centipede?)), seeing the giraffe
feeding, the lion cubs, the playground, and of course, getting snacks
(including dipping dots) at the zoo cafe. towards the end of the day my
mom and park met up with us. it would have been great if you joined us at the zoo. actually i was thinking we could try to plan for the zoo again
during the summer months. interested?? we didn't take any pictures cuz i
forgot to bring the camera. but i have to tell you that i love the blog
and thank you for all the wonderful entries and for keeping us all
up-to-date on events and keeping us connected. i ran into carla this
morning getting coffee and heard about the fun and all the great food at
janice's. sorry i missed it but happy, happy, happy birthday to you. i
wish you a wonderful year filled with laughter, happiness and lots of fun!!
take care and hope to see you soon.

Googled Revised Quote of the Day...AGAIN!

"You need a license to buy a dog, or drive a car, hell, you need a license to catch a damn fish. But they'll let any butt-reaming asshole have a child."

Revised Quote of the Day...

You need a license to fish, but they let any asshole be a parent...

Gremlins et al

maryann wrote about karen's latest blog "It felt intimate reading about your thoughts...".

ditto to maryann about feeling intimate reading about your thoughts. it makes me so happy reading your writing again - brings me back to a few lifetimes ago. which, by the way, is how i define & think about my one supposed lifetime here. my "lifetimes" are separated by not only time, but people, events & experience/s.

you know what the blog(s) have been for me, a way to stay intimate w/ you all regardless of the constraints we have on our time.

glad ~:D

Another Quote of the Day...

Happy New Year's Day!

Well, it's not exactly New Year's Day. Out of curiousity, I looked up the phrase "April Fool's Day" from a book I picked up at the library. For those interested, here's what I found out... Believe it or not, April 1st was originally New Year's Day during the 16th century. Why? New Year's Day originally fell on Holy Week. It was specifically March 25th, but people waited to celebrate it on April 1st. From the earliest periods of history, people of all nations bestowed gifts upon their neighbors on New Year's Day. In 1564, the country France took the lead and shifted New Year's Day to January 1, the first day of the year. When New Year's Day was transferred to January 1st, people in France paid mock visits to their friends on April 1st, with the object of fooling them into the belief that date was still New Year's Day. Hence came the phrase, April Fool's Day. : )

More on Vic's day & thank Maryann!

thank you, thank you maryanne for kindly posting the pics for me!!!

it was an awesome day all around, surrounded by our closest friends & family, the sun was shining, the food yummy & the kids running around helter skelter (in a good way).

victor was an angel during his ceremony & just when he was beginning to get cranky, it was time to light the candle & he was instantly mesmerized - divine intervention? gene & i were of course, LATE - I know, is nothing sacred? But, miracles do happen & I have Janine as our witness...there was Maryann standing w/ J, on time & dare I say early. i could not get over it!

at his party, victor was a born socialite, meeting & greeting like a pro & he never even took a time out for a nap! he went from person to person, taking it all in & bearing many tooless grins. meanwhile, mom & dad had a rare chance to see friends & family from near & far. there was bbq in the backyard, lumpia frying in the kitchen & filipino & kam's food staying warm on the dining room table - did i mention there was gourmet chicken? it was also a good day for tommy, having his cousins & friends to run around with - he loves his "boy cousins" in particular.

we missed you all & just wanted to share a little bit about the day with you. ~:D Glad
